Andrew Brimmer
On this day in 1966, Andrew Brimmer became the first African American to be appointed as a Governor on the Federal Reserve System. He was appointed by former President Lyndon B. Johnson. Andrew was an economist who studied at Harvard University. While attending Harvard, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York and also established the central bank of Sudan. Since then, he's received several awards and honors before his death in 2012.
