Cinnamon Toast Smoothie

I was craving sweets hard this past week & I rediscovered an old favorite snack of my childhood. Cinnamon sugar on toast. I can see the amber-colored glass shaker with a red lid that held the family’s proprietary mix of refined white sugar and cinnamon. I can also remember testing the structural limits of a toasted & buttered piece of soft white bread with the pile of cinnamon sugar I would pour on.

I was more reserved with my sprinkling this time, and the bread was of marginally better quality and, it really hit the spot. I got to thinking that it would be fun to turn those flavors into a smoothie.

Adapted from Whole Foods Bellies

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 ice cubes

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 1 medjool date pitted

  • ¼ cup old fashioned oats

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup milk of choice (I used oat)

  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or non-dairy yogurt

Instructions:

Whip it up in your blender, pour, & enjoy. Serves 1.

Infusion Opportunity:

  • You can add tincture (a vanilla flavored one would be nice here), or you could infuse your milk or yogurt, a more involved process, demonstrated here.)

As always, please be mindful of your consumption tolerance. If you’re not sure what your dosage is, start small. A tincture is a good way to incorporate a small dosage. Leafly has put together a dosage guide that I have found helpful.
