Warrior One
Warrior One is a common pose in most vinyasa flow classes and a part of a series in yoga designed specifically to lengthen and strengthen the body. To begin, bend your front leg and align your front foot so that your knee is right above your toes. Your back leg is extended straight and your toes are slightly rotated in the opposite direction of your front leg. Next, bring both of your hands forward to frame your front foot. Stay here or, if it feels safe, engage your abs to lift your chest, aligning your hips forward and bending deeper into your front leg. Arms go straight up in the air and shoulders press down your back. Stay here for a few breaths and then slowly release your arms back to framing your foot. For a challenge, transition from Warrior One right into your plank position. Be sure to complete the same on your opposite side.
