Slanging Cannabinoids in the GA
Reposted with permission from @SHALWETOKE
THC-V, THC-O, and HHC are cannabinoids of cannabis that Georgia retailers plan to sell under another loophole found in the 2018 Farm Bill.
What’s a cannabinoid?
Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis. Each cannabinoid provides different effects on the body and mind. It all comes down to how much THC, which is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, is in these other cannabinoids to determine whether selling it is illegal or legal. If it’s less than 0.3% of THC, then it’s technically ok….according to what these retailers are arguing.
What’s interesting is that ALL 3 of these cannabinoids that these Georgia retailers intend to sell contain psychoactive compounds. Literally, all 3 of them. But, as I stated earlier, these retailers are claiming that under the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized the production of hemp, that they are acting well within the law.
So, what these retailers are essentially saying is that if they extract for example, THC-V from hemp that contains less than 0.3% of THC, then what they are selling is technically legal.
It’s definitely a loophole from the looks of it. As I’ve been saying since March, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets raided or the state completely ends up banning it, similar to how Colorado, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island and Utah have banned Delta-8, a cannabinoid, to some degree.
if you’re in the cannabis industry, let’s not forget what happened at the CHAMPS Trade Show in Las Vegas back in August, when the feds raided the place over Delta-8 products. There was a lot of buzz on what really happened and what didn’t, but the bottom line is that the feds and even the state(s) are possibly working together to some degree to bust these people who are finding loopholes around the 2018 Farm Bill.
There’s been plenty of speculation and for good reason that the government has classified cannabis in such a complex manner to simply cause confusion, debate and to incite people to commit these gray area acts so that they can essentially criminalize people.
