Herbie Hancock

On April 12, 1940, Herbie Hancock was born in Chicago, Illinois. Hancock is a famous pianist and composer. He began playing the piano at the age of 7 and was discovered by the trumpeter Donald Byrd at the age of 20. Hancock joined the Miles Davis Quintet in 1963. He played with Davis for five years before going solo. In his five-decade career, Hancock has won a total of 14 Grammy Awards and an Oscar.
