On May 25, 1943, Henrietta Bradberry patented the bed rack. Henrietta was an African American housewife, innovator, and inventor born in Franklin, Kentucky, and lived in Chicago. The bed rack that Henrietta invented was used for several purposes, but mainly to attach to the bed frame in order to air out previously worn clothes. Two years later, Henrietta also invented a new way for torpedoes to be discharged from submarines and subterranean torts.
