C. Delores Tucker

On October 12, 2005, civil rights activist, politician, and African American women's advocate, C. Delores Tucker passed away from a long illness. Cynthia Delores Tucker was born in Philadelphia in 1971. She participated in the Selma to Montgomery marches walking alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tucker was also a co-founder of the National Congress of Black Women. She became the first African American woman to serve as the Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth.
