Tree Pose

To begin your tree pose, stand with your feet together in parallel. Distribute your weight on to the heel of your left foot while maintaining a soft bend in your left knee. Rotate your right knee out to the side while aligning the sole of your right foot along the inside of your left lower leg. Protect your knees by avoiding the tendency to press your right foot up against your knee joint. In this variation, your tree pose is supported on your lower leg. For more of a challenge, bring your right foot to the inside of your right thigh. Our bodies require balance from top to bottom and left to right, so be sure to repeat this on your second side. Arm and hand positions are optional.
