Today in 1900, The National Negro Business League was founded in Boston, MA. Booker T. Washington was identified as the league's first president. The organization was founded to promote both financial and commerical development of the Negro. Washington founded the organization as he believed the advancement of African Americans was through economic development. The League included both African American business men and business women. In 1966, The league's name was later changed to National Business League.
